Scottish Biomedical is a drug discovery services company focusing on early stage drug research. With fully integrated biology and chemistry technology and expertise, we have been able to identify/validate many new targets and successfully discover and optimise novel small molecule lead compounds in a number of therapeutic areas. We are always interested in finding highly motivated researchers.
We are looking for a scientist with post doctoral experience in cellular signalling, ideally in an industrial setting. Specific experience in ion channels, neurobiology, GPCRs, protein modification pathways or expression control would be an advantage.
We are also seeking biological science graduates with extensive mammalian, primary or stem cell culture, and cell biology laboratory experience.
A demonstrated ability to work in a team-oriented environment, and accuracy is required in all positions. An understanding of the drug discovery process would be useful but not essential. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are also required.

Administrator/Purchaser
Excellent opportunity for a strong and effective administrator with knowledge or appreciation of purchasing procedures.
Responsibilities include:
Liaison with internal staff
Tracking the full purchase order lifecycle, from initial quotations through to delivery of goods.
Raising purchase orders (scientific reagents and equipment) and placing orders with suppliers.
Negotiating terms and conditions with potential and existing suppliers (UK and worldwide).
Progressing outstanding purchase orders with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of goods and services.
Data Entry (In-house access database).
Working to strict deadlines.
Other ad-hoc duties.
Requirements/Experience
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Access, Excel and Internet Research skills are essential
First class communication skills, coupled with the ability to liase at all levels.
You must have a keen eye for detail and a high level of accuracy.
The successful candidate will benefit from a salary package in the range of £ 13,000 – 17,000 p.a. plus contributory pension scheme and performance-based bonus scheme.
